The Vision Vision board maker
Step 1, curate the life you want. An online vision board for the home, the people, the work, the trips and the slow mornings. No numbers here, just the picture: The Plan works out what it takes.
How to make a vision board
1. Decide who it's for. A board starts as yours: add your name and begin. Planning a life with someone, like a partner, a friend or family? Choose Joint and add both names, and each of you gets your own heart to give. 2. Start with the big questions. Five questions wait under Start here: what a good ordinary day looks like, getting there sooner or enjoying the way, where home is, who you want around you, and the big moments you want. Answer them on their cards. Press Q to add questions of your own. 3. Pin up the life you want. Double-click anywhere for a note. Paste or drop in photos, add words and icons, and put each one in a section: life now on the left, then the life you want, part by part: home, people, work and purpose, health and time, adventures, fun and hobbies. Make sections of your own for anything else. 4. Say what matters. Click anything to give it a heart, say when you'd like it (now, in a few years, later in life or someday) and whether it's a must, nice to have or a maybe. On a board with someone, each of you has a heart, and you can say whose idea it was. 5. Join ideas up and make it yours. Draw arrows between the things that lead to each other. Choose a font, highlight or strike out a word, and colour anything from the wheel. 6. Read it back. The summary gathers the board into one page: what matters most, your answers, the pictures, every idea by part of life, when you'd like each one, and what's still to talk about. Download the board as a picture, copy it as text, or print it. 7. Keep it, then see what it takes. The board stays in your browser. Export it as a file to keep a copy or send it to someone, and import it on any device. When you're ready, take what matters most to The Plan to see whether it's realistic and what getting there looks like.
What is a vision board?
A vision board is a picture of the life you want: the home, the people, the work, the trips, the slow mornings. Putting it all in one place makes it easier to see what matters, and to plan for it. This one is online, so it goes where you go, and it reads itself back as a summary when you're done.
Vision board ideas to start with
Not sure where to begin? Try where you'd live if you could choose anywhere, a normal Tuesday ten years from now, the trips you'd regret not taking, the people you want close, what you'd do with a free day, and the things you'd stop doing. A photo, a word or a single note is enough.
Making a vision board with someone
Sharing a life with a partner, a friend or family? Make one board between you. Each of you gives an idea your own heart, and the things you both love rise to the top. Where you differ, mark it a maybe: it lands in Still to talk about, ready for your next conversation.
A vision board before a budget
Most money plans start with numbers. This one starts with the life, because money is a tool, and a tool only means something once you know what it's for. There are no costs or dates on the board, on purpose. The Plan, the next step, works out whether it's realistic and what getting there looks like.
Your board stays with you
The board lives in your browser on your device, not in a cloud account. Export it as a file to keep a copy, move it to another device or share it, and import it there.
Do I need an account?
No. The board is kept in your browser, and you can export it as a file whenever you like.
What should I put on a vision board?
Anything that shows the life you want: photos of places, words that matter, the home you picture, the people around you, the work you'd choose, the trips and the someday dreams. Keep it to what you'd want, not what you think you should.
Do I need to use numbers?
No. The board is for the vision only. When you want to know what it takes, The Plan puts numbers on it.
Can I use it on two devices?
Not at the same time: it's kept in one browser. Export it as a file and import it on the other device, or send the file to someone to open.
Can I print or download my vision board?
Yes. Download the whole board as a picture, copy or download the summary as text, or print it.
